JESS GOWLING
 

Jess Gowling (they/them) is a queer, non-binary multi-disciplinary artist with a Bachelor’s degree of Fine Art in Printmaking from the Alberta University of the Arts (formerly ACAD), specializing in both etching & illustration. Their primary focus is now tattooing; the artist owns & operates Moonlit Fangs Tattoo an eco-certified & trauma-informed shop. Previously, Jess spent 15 years as a full-time illustrator & fine artist under the name Nature’s My Friend.

Exploring the natural world through a Western esoteric lens, Jess’s practice has featured animal and botanical imagery. The artist is best known for their detailed animal portraiture, illustrative line work, and their legacy project 100 Ink Animals.

Their artwork has been featured by Sakura, Etsy, Global Television, Colossal, Biddy Tarot, Booooooom, Canadian Living, The Sketchbook Project, Uppercase, Maker’s Magazine & Digital Artist Magazine.

Jess creates out of a private studio in what is known as Invermere, BC, Canada and operates their tattoo shop in what is known as Cranbrook, BC, Canada; they respectfully acknowledge that they live, work & play on the unceded traditional territories of the Akisqnuk First Nation & Ktunaxa homelands.
