about The oracle
n In 2016 Jess Gowling embarked on a 100 day drawing challenge, illustrating 100 animals from around the world. Creatures of sky, land & sea were detailed in ink, then paired with thoughtful scientific facts that were distilled into symbolic prose; each animal held a lesson that humans could learn from. The artist ensured that many representatives from the animal kingdom were featured, each with a unique message expressed through poetic, thoughtful, and non-binary language.
As the artwork and writings were finished, they were shared daily on social media, and a supportive online community formed, eventually encouraging publication. As the artworks were digitized and the prose rewritten for a book, a keyword was developed for each animal and thus the oracle was born. In 2018, a successful Kickstarter campaign funded the production of both the illustrated book and oracle deck.
Since its creation almost a decade ago, 100 Ink Animals has received high praise from cartomancers of all levels. The decks have traveled worldwide, appearing in galleries and metaphysical shops across North America and as far as Korea. This beautiful collection of animal wisdom continues to resonate with animal lovers and spiritual seekers alike.
